Tualatin Hills Junior Soccer League (THJSL) is pleased to announce the Fall 2013 season of Tualatin Hills Select Soccer Program (THSSP) for U10 – U14 boys and girls.  Select Soccer is a recreation/competitive program specifically designed to occupy the ‘middle ground’ between recreation soccer (‘rec’) and competitive soccer (also referred to as ‘classic’ or ‘club’). 

This is a new program and THJSL expects some growing pains.  We ask everyone to be patient and understanding.

The Milltown United Soccer Club currently administers this program.

Here are highlights of this program:

  •  Players will have to attend a demonstration event to help in their placement.
  • Players selected will have to complete registration process and pay any fees.
  • If they play on a ‘select’ team, players will not be allowed to play on a ‘rec’ team.
  • All Players must live within the boundaries of Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District or Beaverton School District.
  • All teams formed under program will take part in a competitive league.
  • Teams will represent THJSL, not individual clubs.
  • All the coach’s staff will be volunteers.  THJSL is looking for coaches to work with the players.
  • THJSL will also need volunteers to help administer the program.

Families need to expect the following:

  •  Some games will be outside of THJSL boundaries. This could range from Longview, WA to Salem and/or The Dalles to Seaside.
  • Games will normally take place on Saturday/Sunday between 9am to 5pm.
  • Training to take place June through November, at least 2 twice a week.
  • This program is more competitive than the recreation program your players may have been involved.  The rules and games management will be different. 

Players’ demonstration event will take place on May 17, 18 and 19 and on May 31, June 1 and 2.  Below are the times/locations for the weekend of the 17th thru the 19th of May:

The costs for this program are:

  • $10 to attend demonstration event.
  • Accepted players pay $210 for the training and fall season.
  • Purchase a uniform kit for $120 from our supplier.
  • Additional fees to cover any tournaments selected by the League and Coaches.
  • Cost to get your player to any games (locally and away), including meals.

Cost is driven by league fees, field fees, and administration costs.  Competitive leagues are more expensive than rec leagues and have more referees per game.  We have tried to keep fees as low as possible.
